Manchester United: Ten Hag on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS

With Manchester United approaching Newcastle's sporting director Dan Ashworth about coming to Old Trafford, it was little surprise Erik ten Hag spent today's media conference fielding questions about working with a sporting director.

While the Dutchman did not comment on Ashworth specifically, he was keen to point out he is very happy working in the current structure at United, although he did accept it is not up to him what happens next.

He did say the players and staff are aligned with the ambitions of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos, after their investment was approved by the Premier League and the Football Association this week,

Ten Hag added that within the current setup they are already working on plans for the summer transfer window, and pointed out how important communication is when working with a sporting director, and that you are on the same page when it comes to football philosophy, tactics and transfer targets.

"At a club like Manchester United you can’t do everything alone," he said. "You need good people around you."

However, he also knows the club always have to look to improve so changes will be coming.
